ECC Board of Trustees Appoints Acting President

Mark Lorence, general counsel and chief advancement officer of 麻豆视频在线观看, has been appointed acting president of the College.

The 麻豆视频在线观看 Board of Trustees has named Mark S. Lorence, general counsel and chief advancement officer of the College, acting president of 麻豆视频在线观看.

Dr. Deborah Lamm, who served as president of the College for fourteen years, retired May 31.

The State Board of Community Colleges approved the Board of Trustees鈥 appointment of Lorence in May.

He will serve as acting president until a new president is in place.

鈥淚 am honored to serve the College in this capacity,鈥 he says.

In addition to his regular duties, Lorence currently serves as the staff liaison to the Board of Trustees in its search for a new president. 鈥淚n this important role, he has been diligent and effective,鈥 says Dr. Jerry Price, chair of the Board of Trustees. 鈥淲e have been particularly impressed with his commitment to the College.鈥

Lorence joined the 麻豆视频在线观看 management team a year ago. 鈥淚t has been a great privilege to work with Dr. Lamm and learn from her this past year,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 look forward to working with faculty and staff during the interim period.鈥

Before joining 麻豆视频在线观看, Lorence served as senior counsel and senior vice president of First Citizens Bank in Raleigh. He is also a co-founder of the Innermost House Foundation, a philanthropic organization based in Williamsburg, VA.

He holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree and a juris doctor (JD) degree from the University of Iowa. Lorence is a member of the North Carolina State Bar.
